Photographers Insurance

Photographers’ professional indemnity insurance is essential cover, primarily due to the advice that you provide. If something was to go wrong or a client was portrayed in a damaging light, then there may be some damaging consequences, wedding photographers have just one day to get it right.

Professional indemnity insurance for photographers would provide cover against compensation claims and legal cost for any of your clients that have suffered financial loss due to negligence.

If you provided poor advice to a client then it is highly likely you will be liable for the cost of putting things right, plus any damage or injury resulting from it. For example, your photographers’ professional indemnity insurance will cover you if you are commissioned to photograph the MD of a business and the picture portrayed him in an unprofessional light.

Photographers’ professional indemnity insurance will also protect you if you were to lose photographs, you will be covered up to £25,000 in the event of a claim.*

The option to include public liability insurance and employers’ liability insurance to your photographers’ professional indemnity insurance is available, at an additional premium.

If you employ an assistant, you will legally be required to obtain employers liability insurance. This will cover you if an employee was to suffer a work related illness or injure themselves whilst at work. Public liability insurance however will protect against any claims made by the public for injury or damage to their property caused by your business.

*Excess will increase to £1,000 if the claim amount was for £25,000 or over.
