yield

the permanent deformation, which a metal piece takes when it is stressed beyond the elastic limit.

yield stress

a stress at which for a given material, a permanent deformation results when the stress is removed.

yoke

a stiff beam hanging from a crane hook, and with ropes and chains hanging from different points along it - used for lifting a long reinforced concrete pile or any other long fragile object to prevent breakage during lifting.
