a measure of a slope being the ratio of the vertical distance between two points on the slope to the horizontal distance between them.

a part of a roadway or railway that slopes upwards or downwards; inclination.

a mixture of rock fragments that is coarser than sand.

A Green Card is an internationally recognised document that proves the holder has the minimum insurance required to legally drive in that country. ground beam
a reinforced concrete beam at or near ground level which acts as a foundation for the walls or floors of the superstructure - it may span between foundations piers or piles or be itself a strip foundation.

a vertical strut between the lowest frame and a foot block on the formation level of a timbered excavation - it carries the weight of the timbering.
grout
fluid or semi fluid cement slurry or a slurry made with other materials for pouring into the joints of brickwork or masonry or for injection into the ground on pre-stressing ducts.
groyne
a wall built out from a riverbank or seashore to increase or raise a beach level - it may be built of wooden piles, stone or concrete.
gulley
a pit in the gutter by the side of a road - it is covered with a grating and water drains away from it through a trap, but silt can collect in the pit - the silt is periodically removed by a gulley sucker.

a channel along the eaves or on a roof of a building, used to collect and carry away rainwater.

a channel running along the kerb or the centre of the road to collect and carry away rainwater.
