Van drivers the safest on UK Roads

Recent research has highlighted that van drivers are the safest on UK roads.

The research conducted by Tesco found that there were fewer and smaller van insurance claims (including courier services) made than by any other vehicle users. The study also showed that 20% of van drivers had undergone further driving training such as advanced driving or specialist training courses.

Following these findings, a spokesman for the supermarket stated that the stereotypical view of van drivers as being the most dangerous on the road was completely outdated.

He said: "Van drivers are often stereotyped as rogues of the road. However, our own records show that van drivers are actually very safe drivers and in our eyes they deserve a good insurance rate."

The study concluded that van drivers including couriers were seven times less likely to be involved in a motorway accident as other road users.
