The numbers of small businesses in the UK are expected to increase as the economy starts to look more positive, it has been suggested.
But according to business expert, new small businesses starting up must have more than just a vision. They must have the drive to see it become a reality.
Writing for CSM, Jeff Cornwall claimed that not every business is likely to succeed. Competition levels are fierce among entrepreneurs and new business owners are competing for essential resources. Things such as funding, customers and staff are all vital factors for a small business to be successful.
Mr Cornwall said:
“Attracting these resources often relies on how well the entrepreneur can deliver 'the pitch' for their new business.”
“An effective pitch starts with a hook - something that grabs the attention of the person one is talking to about a business.”
He suggests that entrepreneurs hoping to start up a business plan early and think of any small detail they can. He explains that they must explain fully what the purpose of the company is at an early stage so that customers have no doubt in their mind as to what the company does.
