Commercial insurance providers ConstructaQuote.com, have pledged to fully support a new campaign that calls for a halt on fuel duty rises and an introduction of a fuel price stabiliser.
Peter Carroll launched a nationwide campaign, FairFuelUK on the 9th of January which fights for fair fuel prices for UK road freight companies.
Figures from PetrolPrices.com showed the average cost for a litre of unleaded petrol is currently 128.10p, while diesel costs 132.45p per litre. This needs to be put under control.
The man behind the successful Gurkha Justice Campaign in 2009 is asking for support from as many stakeholders as possible – the general public, the road freight trade association and all major groups that represent the economy such as the Confederation of British Industry and the Chambers of Commerce. Peter Carroll, a road haulier himself said:

As a road haulier himself, Peter explained that spiralling fuel prices, pushed up even higher by fuel duty rises are crushing the UK road freight industry which is ‘hurting’ the entire economy.
“It is pushing up prices and stoking inflation which affects everyone. I know that the Government has serious budget problems to address. However, in this case, the medicine is going to kill the patient.”
“I want to build up FairFuelUK into the largest, most broadly based and most powerful campaign for fairer fuel prices for British Business ever put together. We will concentrate on lobbying MPs and the Government. I aim to hold mass rallies of vehicles in the coming weeks as we run up to the Budget so that the Government is in no doubt about the depth of this crisis.”
